A client requested an expansion of their size limit on the container that houses the public folders for their Exchange environment. The expansion of the database involves a simple registry entry and restarting the Information Store. Please note that while the change is simple, Microsoft set the default limits with a plan in mind. Make sure the size change works with the plan for your Exchange environment.
Step 1:
Open regedit, navigate to the HKLM, system, CurrentControlSet, Services, MSExchangeIS, “server name”, “public GUID” (replacing the server name and public GUID with the one for your server).
Step 2:
Add a DWORD value “Database Size Limit in Gb,” with the size in GB, decimal value.
Step 3:
Restart the information store or restart the server. If the change was applied correctly you will see event 1216 appear in the application log with the changed size noted.
