Step 1:
From the home screen, open the Applications Tray, and then touch Email.
Step 2:
Enter your Email address and Password then select Next.*

Step 3:
Enter a name for your account, the name to be displayed on outgoing messages then select Done. Your account is setup and your Inbox will be displayed. If prompted for type of account go to Step 4.
Name the account (i.e. work) Provide your name if you wish, you could also put the company name here |
Step 4:
Select the type of email account. (If the account type is unknown check with your email provider-POP3 is the most common).
Most likely you will select POP3 here With Verizon, the corporate email plan (Exchange access) runs 44.95…though I only know that about the Bb. May be different on the Droid. |
Step 5:
Enter your Incoming Server Settings. Then select Next.*
Enter your username, often same as your email address but can be in the format SOMEDOMAIN\username) Enter your password Enter your POP3 settings (i.e. pop3.someomain.com) Port, usually the default is fine but can be 995 if using SSL |
Step 6:
Enter the Outgoing Server Settings. Then select Next.*
Enter your outgoing email server (i.e. smtp.somedomain.com) Port number here may change depending on SSL (465) or Alternate port 587 not being available. In most cases, 587 is fine. Security type, leave the same unless using SSL. Leave the checkmark for require sign-in in most cases. |
Step 7:
Configure the desired account options, select Next. Return to Step 3.
To confirm a successful setup, please send a test email to wherever you wish.
If you receive an error message stating “Setup Could Not Finish” or “Username or Password incorrect.” check with your mail provider to confirm incoming server settings and settings to access their outgoing server from other networks. Also see the Tips and Additional Information section.
Tips and Additional Information
From your inbox you can select Menu, Account Settings and explore your options.
You can set how often you want the DROID to check for new email (longer intervals can be used to extend battery life), your default email account, how you are notified of new email, and more.
